Isolation and Antioxidant Activity of Flavonoid Compound in Ethanolic Extract of Celery Leaves (Apium graveolens L.)

Celery (Apium graveolens L.) is a plant that belongs to the Apiaceae family and widely used as medical for low blood pressure, heart tonic, prevent cardiovascular disease. This study aims obtain flavonoid compounds, identify, test antioxidant activity of compounds crude extracts from celery leaves. The research procedures consisted four steps, first which was preliminary test. second step involved isolating separating components by vacuum liquid chromatography, gravitational column preparative thin layer chromatography. third identify using reagent shift, FTIR, LCMS/MS. And finally, evaluated DPPH method. result showed ethanolic extract leaves stems had total content 13.99 2.46 mg QE/g dry weight. Both contained alkaloids, saponin, flavonoid, tannin, quinone, steroid/triterpenoid, determined phytochemical screening. Isolation separation flavonoids yielded A2.I A2.II isolates, with respective weights 8 14 mg. Identification shift two isolates have basic structure flavone group. isolate OH groups at 4’, 5, 7, while 3’, 7. FTIR analysis revealed both contain functional groups, including O-H, C=O, C=C aromatic, C-O ether, alcohol, C-H aromatic ring.
